One other aspect of his Art career which has always been of particular interest involves figure study. The human form presents the ultimate challenge and is therefore a vital part of all art education. For David, depicting the nude form has always held a particular fascination and he is rewarded with an infinite source of inspiration.
The highlight of David's career to date was winning the Sussex Open Art Competition at Brighton in 1997. He has exhibited at Worthing Museum, Christ's Hospital Horsham, Philip Jackson's gallery at Midhurst and The Grange at Rottingdean.
Over the years David has evolved as an artist and is constantly seeking out new ideas in his work, with the ultimate aim of creating a heightened and more expressive visual language.
David has always had a passion for art, even from an early age. Although not choosing fine art as a career, he maintained a profound interest in the subject all through his life, attending adult education classes and workshops, wishing to extend his knowledge and range of the subject .
In his early fifties he embarked on a foundation course in Art/Design at Brighton Polytechnic. Since then he has continued his art education and is a member of several Art groups, including the West Sussex Art Society and the Roxanne group.
David draws his inspiration from elegance of shape and form as found in, for example, nature, architecture, fashion and the human form. He works with a variety of water based media and enjoys experimenting with new concepts/techniques including the use of mixed media and collage.
